Missionary Disaster Response (MDR) is actively supporting humanitarian response and recovery efforts following the earthquake that impacted communities in Colombia.
Through our network of local volunteers and partners, MDR has personnel on the ground supporting response activities and helping identify the immediate and emerging needs of affected families.
Having local volunteers already embedded within communities is an important part of MDR’s approach to humanitarian response. They understand their communities, can help identify vulnerable populations, and allow assistance to begin locally while additional resources and partnerships are mobilized.
MDR is working to support both immediate needs and the longer recovery ahead. Our priorities include emergency and essential supplies, assistance for vulnerable families, educational resources for children whose normal routines may be disrupted, and trauma-informed emotional support materials for children and older adults.
Local Volunteers. Local Action. Lasting Hope.
Our response is about more than distributing supplies. It is about standing alongside people during moments of uncertainty and helping communities move from immediate response toward recovery.
MDR will continue assessing needs with our volunteers and partners in Colombia and identifying opportunities to expand humanitarian assistance as resources become available.
We need your help.
Financial contributions give MDR the flexibility to respond to changing needs, purchase critical supplies—including from local businesses when possible—and provide resources where they can have the greatest impact.
Your gift can help turn compassion into action for families affected by the earthquake.
